My London life one slice at a time

Hampstead Heath & Parliament Hill

After chatting to my friends over recent weeks a common theme has been about how much I explore London and I’m always doing something, inspiring them to explore this great city more. It got me thinking and I thought instead of just having this as a baking blog why not share some of my experiences of places I’ve visited. So here’s my first post along that vein.

When I’m not hungover or tired after a busy week at work I love nothing more than getting up on a Sunday and going for a wander somewhere, usually this ends up being Southbank, Greenwich or Richmond so one weekend last September I hopped on the tube from Canary Wharf to Belsize Park and took the short walk over to Hampstead Heath and Parliament Hill.

It amazes me how even in Zone 2 you can find so much green space and amazing views over the city. Just a 15 minute walk from Hampstead Heath station you are presented with views like above.

This historic heath first entered the history books in 986AD and over its 790 acres there is plenty of places to explore, play or relax with a picnic and a book. If you’re feeling especially brave you can even go swimming in the mixed or male/female only lidos, open all year round. Now Spring is on the way its definitely worth heading over for a walk and an explore.
