One of my first coffees in London when I was considering moving here was at Shoreditch Grind, then I moved here and our offices opened in Covent Garden; Not long after a Covent Grind branch opened and I became a regular there. So when I heard one was opening in Greenwich and in one of my favourite locations in the town centre I had to check it out. This is their 9th location overall and 5th restaurant since they were founded in Shoreditch back in 2011 and is proof they keep going from strength to strength.
Greenwich Grind opened this Wednesday so as I was off work I decided to start my day with a coffee and spot of brunch and I wasn’t disappointed. I loved this building on Nelson Road when it was a Jamies restaurant but what they’ve done with the place takes it up a level and makes it a relaxed, stylish, bright and open space. I can see me spending many a weekend morning here writing my next blog post over a coffee or no doubt many an evening enjoying one of their famous espresso martinis.
The service was great, super friendly and attentive but not over the top and as ever the coffee was great. I went for a cappuccino to start (I usually get a flat white these days) but it was so good I had a second after my brunch. For food I went for smashed avocado, with poached eggs and chilli on toast with some feta as an extra and I’d definitely recommend it. The chilli just gives it the right kick and isn’t overpowering, eggs perfect and the presentation was top-notch. The brunch menu is pretty extensive and includes everything from pancakes, full english, breakfast burritos and their famous sweet potato harissa cakes. I can’t wait to go back again and try some more of the menu.
